Chapter 2 — Episode 2
The episode opens with Kageyama, a corporate manager, learning that Rock (Okajima) is still in the South Seas and ordering plane tickets to travel there himself, suggesting a deliberate plan to eliminate the loose end Rock represents. Meanwhile, aboard the Black Lagoon, Rock vents his frustration at being treated as expendable while Dutch and Benny notice that the pursuing military vessel has stopped firing and is instead keeping a deliberate distance, herding them toward a narrow waterway where evasive maneuvers will be impossible. Then, as the crew debates their dwindling options, Rock proposes a bold plan: lure the enemy helicopter into a head-on chicken race and use a nearby sunken ship combined with the Black Lagoon's hydroplaning speed to destroy it. He argues that the enemy commander's arrogant, gunslinger mentality makes him predictable and easy to bait. Dutch agrees, and Rock takes position to fire an infrared flare to decoy the helicopter's homing missiles while Revy engages head-on. Finally, the plan succeeds — Rock fires the flare at the critical moment, the missiles miss, and the Black Lagoon uses the sunken ship as a ramp to launch into the air and destroy the helicopter. Afterward, the crew intercepts and boards a large cargo ship called the St. Joan, with Rock making the radio announcement and Revy forcing it to stop at gunpoint. The episode closes with Rock reflecting in a brief daydream about his old family life, before Dutch cheerfully declares the St. Joan their day's prize and sets course back to port.
