Chapter 2 — Episode 2
**Beginning:** The episode opens with a tense confrontation between Kaneki and Touka, as she forces him to eat human flesh, which he desperately refuses, insisting he is human and not a monster like her. Touka challenges him by asking what kind of creature he truly is now, and reveals her own suffering — that unlike him, she has lived her entire life as a ghoul, unable to enjoy human food or a peaceful existence free from fear of the CCG. **Middle:** Then, Kaneki encounters Nishiki, a ghoul upperclassman who attacks him and threatens his best friend Hide, taunting Kaneki about his half-ghoul nature and his inability to control his ghoul eyes. Nishiki holds Hide hostage and mocks Kaneki for befriending humans, whom he views as mere livestock, while physically overpowering Kaneki and warning that Hide is too perceptive to be kept safely close. **Finally:** Driven by the need to protect Hide, Kaneki forces himself to fight back despite being outmatched, with Nishiki threatening to crush Hide's skull to provoke him into action. At the end, the confrontation reaches a critical point as Kaneki, pushed to his limit, appears to tap into his ghoul instincts to defend his unconscious friend, setting up a dangerous and unresolved clash between the two ghouls.
